You will be a hands-on Associate Data Scientist responsible for building a foundational customer insight capability. This capability will allow us to drive deep insight into customer behaviours that drive value for merchants and consumers, resulting in commercial outcomes for Merchants and Afterpay..
You will work closely with the Behavioural Science team to build out these foundations by identifying user needs, sourcing data, cleaning and enriching it for use in Machine Learning models.
You can work closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders to identify requirements and apply your knowledge of machine learning and statistics to increase our speed to value. You will succeed by combining analytical insight, technical proficiency, business acumen, and the ability to collaborate and influence your key partners.

-Development of a feature store to supercharge time to insight and time to production of machine learning models
-Define the preprocessing or feature engineering to be done on modelling datasets
-Build machine learning algorithms for the purpose of customer insight and activation
-Engage with engineering, product, and other analytics teams to deliver on major cross-functional projects
-Work with data scientists and behavioural scientists to accelerate the speed to production of algorithms
-Exploring and visualizing customer data
-Defining Afterpay’s customer model validation strategies and verifying data quality for the purpose of machine learning
-Analyzing the errors of a model and designing feature engineering strategies to overcome them

-You will have a deep theoretical understanding of statistics, machine learning, and/or computer science, alongside an awareness of the pre-processing requirements of modern algorithms
-You have some experience with advanced analytics, data science and machine learning
-You have experience delivering against a data science roadmap
-You have experience collaborating with data scientists, data engineers, and business stakeholders
-You have experience working in B2C technology, Enterprise or Retail organisations with large customer datasets
-You have a track record of delivering data-driven solutions
