Job Title

Vice President, Business Development, Real Time Payments


The VP – Business Development, Real time payments will lead new business development for account payment flows activity for the AP region. This leader has accountability for creating the market / client partner engagement strategies and secure new business growth from real time payments and domestic switches and articulating the local market requirements for successful commercialization in the region.

  • Develop strategy to identify and build new payments businesses in existing and new markets in areas including B2B, B2C and P2P.
  • Partner with Products Group to inform solutions to serve identified market needs.
  • Define optimal engagement model and client / market entry strategy to secure new wins – Real time infrastructure, applications, and new payment flows.
  • Develop and proactively maintain relationships at potential customers and partners at the C-suite level.
  • Engage customers/partners in strategic dialogue and partnerships covering the full spectrum of MA assets, capabilities and solutions.
  • P&L management and deal management for new opportunities.
  • Oversight of business development teams to ensure disciplined approach to sales and relationship management efforts to drive long-term value creation for customers, partners and MasterCard.
  • Serve as the expert and advocate for the domestic payments area to identify and understand the opportunities, challenges and potential partner priorities to establish mutually beneficial partnerships/commercial relationships.
  • Develop strong internal executive level partnerships to ensure cross-functional alignment and maximum support.

  • In depth understanding of the payments industry and Asia Pacific markets
  • Ability to develop and maintain high quality relationships at C-suite level of customers/partners.
  • Financial/business acumen.
  • Strong people management and leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated multi-disciplinary knowledge, i.e. product development, business development, marketing, operations, risk, emerging technologies, etc.
  • Consultative problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent negotiation capabilities and demonstrated influencing skills.
  • Superior presentation skills, communication skills.
  • Be able to understand and leverage payments technology and identify growth opportunities.
  • Decision making and critical thinking

Education/Certification Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; MBA preferred
  • Strategy Consulting experience preferred
