The Business Intelligence Analyst role is a multi-faceted function. You get to work on strategic projects, provide analytics and consulting to business partners, deliver on ad hoc requests, and work on analytics products. Across these varied engagements your primary responsibility is to enable our organisation to extract the most value possible from our data assets. Your expertise enables you to analyse and model data to extract valuable insights and present this back in a form which enables timely business decisions and actions.

You Will Be Responsible For

  • Working closely with the Humm group business to understand their business need and requirements for analytics and insight
  • Discovering and blending data from our data warehouse, source systems and other internal and external data. You need to understand data origin and sources of authority for data and ensure that data is consistent and fit for purpose
  • Analysing large amounts of information to discover trends and patterns and validate and socialise these discoveries. There are opportunities to learn and leverage advanced analytics approaches such as data science and probability predictions to forecast outcomes and identify hidden customer behaviour
  • Presenting your analysis to the business community using data visualisation and storytelling techniques ensuring that data elements are clear, well defined, and unambiguous. You will demonstrate understanding of the problem domain, business processes and the underlying systems and data sources
  • Applying appropriate data governance to your solutions aligning with our data standards and controls

About You

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or analytics experience
  • An enthusiasm for data analytics and motivated to be the best you can be in this exciting and rapidly changing landscape. You are naturally curious with a strong attention to detail and motivated to go the extra mile to deliver outstanding outcomes
  • You have high data literacy and technically capable, but also someone who equally enjoys working in the business and building relationships. You are comfortable working in a fast paced and dynamic work environment, are highly consultative, confident to voice your opinion when necessary and pride yourself on being a good listener
  • Possess strong attention to detail, reconciliation, and testing. Highly organised and reliable
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to multitask, prioritise and deliver to schedule. Work well under pressure and use judgement in problem solving.
  • Driven to constantly learn, develop new skills, and share these capabilities – importantly you have a growth mindset

Skills Required

  • Experience in Microsoft Power BI and being highly competent in SQL is a requirement. You are confident working with large datasets, building data sets and competent in developing and publishing reports and dashboards
  • Experience in data quality analysis including identifying data anomalies then working with the business to resolve them is highly desirable
  • Competent analyst and problem-solver
  • Able to understand business requirements, translate these requirements into prototypes and analytic solutions, and deliver through visual reports and dashboards
  • Excellent communication with an ability to interact with different stakeholders, both non-technical and technical
  • Able to manage multiple work requests concurrently, self-manage your workload and manage expectations with stakeholders
