What is exciting about this role?

This role sits within our Financial Control team who ensure that the monthly management accounts, year-end financial statements and tax returns are accurate and prepared in a timely manner. This is a fantastic entry level position, giving you the opportunity to work alongside finance professionals who will support you to learn and grow in a fast paced, exciting industry. You will work collaboratively with the wider finance team and build effective relations with internal and external stakeholders such as IT and Marketing.

What does an average day look like?


No day is average at hummgroup but here is an idea of what you can expect to do in this role and what you will be responsible for

  • Preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Preparation of month end journals
  • Month-end bank reconciliations and bank entries
  • Assist with half year and year-end audits
  • Assist with year-end financial statement preparation
  • Complete monthly and quarterly Stats NZ and RBNZ surveys
  • Complete tax returns for GST and FBT
  • Assist with ad-hoc queries from the business
  • Assist with projects

You are a recent graduate who is looking to start their career in the finance industry. You have a positive attitude and are eager to learn and develop your skills and experience. You have good communication skills and build strong relationships with the people around you.

We’re Also Looking For Someone Who

  • Has completed a bachelor’s degree in Accounting with solid academic results
  • Is currently be studying towards or plans to complete a CA or CPA
  • Has intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Is analytical with strong problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrates a high attention to detail
  • Enjoys learning and being part of a high performing team
