Our ANZ Money Laundering Reporting Officer role is a vital member of an innovative global compliance team. As a central part of this team you will be consistently driving forward and embedding Airwallex's compliance program to safeguard our business as we continue to reach our growth objectives.

This person will partner with internal teams to design, develop, implement, execute, and monitor screening and monitoring rules detecting and mitigating AML and other financial crime related risks. The role supports regulatory obligations for the Australian and New Zealand market.

Reporting directly to the Group Head of Financial Crime Compliance, you will play an influential role in our growth story. This role is based in Australia - either in our well established Melbourne office or in Sydney - where you will be responsible for driving the development, launch and management of several key compliance programs whilst adding value to developing compliance initiatives.


  • Own and develop the FCC compliance framework of Airwallex in Australia and New Zealand building on the Airwallex global compliance framework
  • Manage and set departmental and individual goals and targets for the Financial Crime Compliance Team.
  • Provide day-to-day management and execution of Airwallex’s AML regulatory interactions, examinations and ad-hoc requests.
  • Responsible for anti-money laundering (AML) compliance providing oversight, control, support and coordination for anti-money laundering compliance
  • Responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of an effective tactical and strategic anti-money laundering program
  • Remain up-to-date on regulatory changes and landscape, best practices and cutting-edge developments
  • Develop and manage a regular monitoring and reporting process to inform senior management, the audit committee and the board as necessary and required
  • Design and execute reports to measure success and performance of AML Compliance initiatives, program, operations, critical metrics and Key Risk Indicators
  • Ensure that all activity and transactions that are identified as potentially suspicious are investigated, reviewed and resolved per established procedures
  • Coordinate with AML Compliance Teams to address issues raised in internal audit reports, self-assessments, compliance reviews or regulator’s examination of AML policy
  • Drive internal controls design and monitoring to support Compliance Operational policy and procedures

What You Will Bring

  • Experience working as an MLRO or within an AML / financial crime environment
  • Regional experience in Australia & New Zealand with strong jurisdiction knowledge
  • Working knowledge of the legal and regulatory obligations for Australia and New Zealand
  • Extensive experience, knowledge and interest in the financial crime regulatory environment and understanding of the regulatory priorities within which Airwallex operates
  • Ability to multitask effortlessly and handle challenging priorities under demanding deadlines
  • Credible stakeholder engagement skills to align with our organisational values and behaviours
  • Strong capability and experience in managing financial crime using a risk-based approach
