Primary Responsibilities:

  • Architect, design and build test automation frameworks and tools which can be used across Tyro engineering.
  • Ideate and build a test automation and tooling backlog and prioritise the backlog to create a constant stream of work for the test automation practice
  • Define tooling strategy across the organisation - mostly around API, Data, Mobile, Front end, Performance and Security.
  • Develop reusable frameworks for mobile automation ( Android, iOS apps and terminals).
  • Improve CI/CD practices and run tests as a part of each build (Jenkins and Buildkite).
  • Line management of Test Automation/Graduate Quality engineers.
  • Work closely with Head of QE to get inputs as requirements related to Test Automation for QE team.
  • Work with Head of QE and Technology Leadership Team to prioritise the automation delivery to empower teams working on critical projects. 
  • Work closely with most of Engineering Tech Leads and Architects day-to-day to evolve automation with technology
  • Drive adoption of Quality Engineering tooling across tribes 
  • Evangelise Tyro Quality to the broader Quality Engineering community 

What you bring to the role:

  • A passion for helping build the best test automation frameworks and tools to help engineering teams deliver faster with better quality
  • Experience working closely with quality engineers, developers, technical leads, architects, delivery managers and other stakeholders
  • The confidence to challenge existing ideas and viewpoints
  • A desire to drive automation in all aspects of software development 
  • The ability to engage with software engineers to embed quality in all stages of development
  • Knowledge and experience with identifying opportunities where automation is required to support the ongoing quality of the Tyro systems
  • Knowledge of various testing frameworks and methodologies that will support the team goals with respect to quality
  • Comfortable with AWS environment
  • Experience with testing in a cloud-based environment
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and how they relate to testing

Working Relationships:

  • Head of Quality Engineering – Direct Report – working together to drive the test automation and tooling strategy and improve quality at the tribe level (investigating what tools will be effective, testing skills, etc).
  • Delivery Lead – Collaboration – working together to provide technical and project vision and direction related to test automation and tooling.
  • Software Engineer – Collaboration – working together to improve the quality of what is delivered at Tyro. 
  • Other Stakeholders – Collaboration – Solution Architect, Business Analyst, Product Managers etc

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Project Management or other related field or equivalent work experience
  • Prior experience as a Principal Quality Engineer or Test Automation Lead
  • Prior experience in building API ,UI and Mobile App test automation frameworks (nice to have)
