Overview

Based out of Malaysia or Thailand, the role of Manager, Strategic Merchants, Market Development, Asia Pacific (AP) offers the successful individual the opportunity to join a highly motivated, fast paced team who achieve results through positivity and collaboration. The individual is responsible for driving sales preference for Mastercard across AP. This position requires a proactive, commercially pragmatic account manager with strong relationship management and influencing skills. The individual need to have the ability to operate across multiple opportunities whilst acting with a sense of urgency is essential.

Role

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the client’s global and regional strategy, the organizational structure and opportunity pipeline through the generation and management of account plans, QBR etc
  • Partner and manage cross functional teams including Data & Services, Cyber & Intelligence, Product and Marketing to create incremental revenue opportunities based on identified needs
  • Coordinate fully with Market Development teams across the globe to share learning and experiences and bring insights to the team
  • Leverage profitability modeling, financial forecasting and competitive analysis
  • Take the lead on day-to-day customer interactions including handling queries, preparing data and communicating messages.
  • Own specific relationships; acting as first point of customer contact
  • Understand customer needs to identify sales opportunities and actively build/manage an opportunity pipeline across everything Mastercard offers in consumer payments
  • Prepare presentations for internal and external management
  • Ensure all reporting is prepared and delivered as required both internally and externally
  • Support the Account Director and wider team as required, acting as delegate/cover as necessary

All About You

  • At least 5+ years experience within the issuing, merchant and/or payments industry with a blend of Account Management and BD sales experience
  • Comprehensive experience creating, executing and managing accounts
  • Analytical skills – utilizing internal and external data to manage performance and support hypothesis
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Payment industry and/or issuing/merchant experience
  • A team player capable of coordinating resources across Mastercard’s matrix-based organization
  • Act with a sense of urgency to get things done, proactive, curious to learn, and eager to crack complex topics
  • Demonstrated track record of success with high levels of energy and self-motivation.
  • Hands-on, execution-oriented, willing and able to drive progress of existing projects as well as planning the delivery of new activities
  • Resilient, calm under pressure; organised and able to prioritise tasks appropriately
  • Sense of humour; positive outlook; able to form rapport and good working relationships
