Principal Data Center Solutions Architect
Overview
Team ONE (Operations, Network and Employee Digital Experience) is looking for a Principal, Data Center Engineering Solutions Architect, reporting to the SVP, Technology Operations, responsible for the Data Center Program, to drive our technology strategy forward by consistently innovating and problem-solving. The ideal candidate is passionate about the customer experience journey, has in-depth knowledge and experience in an operational environment, is highly motivated, curious, analytical, and possesses an entrepreneurial mindset.
Role
In This Role, You Will
- Own and maintain the data center build standards and processes and work with the regional leads to enforce these (including Corporate office LAN rooms)
- Ease the communication between the regional teams, facilitate ideas and exchange lessons learned
- Setting expectations around documentation required by regional teams at each stage of the project, develop standards and process documents
- Align Data Center location strategy and roadmaps on business objectives (including public cloud strategy)
- Support and play an active role in new technology deployments (sustainability, cloud computing, Availability Zones, software defined networking, DevOps, etc.)
- Develop strategies to manage data center capacity and green efficiency
- Lead the deployment of a DCIM tool in Mastercard datacenters
- Incorporate operations team feedback into the design process to consider and plan for ease of maintenance and operations
- Oversee new site selection process in collaboration with the regional DC teams
- Key contact for multi regions datacenter projects (e.g. consolidation effort)
- Prepare and delivers materials to provide updates, summaries, and other communications to stakeholders and management regarding datacenter strategies and roadmaps
- Key interface for audit activities PCI, ISO 27001 & internal audit
- Develop sustainability strategy with all ONE stakeholders (sourcing and Compute/Storage/Network program owners) to reduce our GHG footprint in line with Mastercard’s corporate strategy
- Provide recommendations on costs optimization and environmental sustainability improvements
- Mentor and coach datacenter staff by organizing trainings to develop technical skills and capabilities across the organization
- Participate in global technology initiatives for the Datacenter Program
- Lead design standardization, design updates, and process development
- Effectively communicate with ONE project partners
- Create, review, and lead colocation site selection RFP
- Think outside of the box to find innovative solutions
- Manage our external third-party partners through assessment of Mastercard data centers
- Gain experience in establishing well-defined and globally consistent standards by exploring new tools and technologies
- Oversee the regulatory relationships within the regional suppliers including reporting and responding to technical questions from our regulators
- Provide assurance to senior management on the effectiveness of the internal operating environment
- Manage collaborative working relationships with stakeholders an suppliers at the global, regional or local level
- Drive and coordinate large regional infrastructure projects spanning multiple internal platforms, including responsibility for planning, time and cost management
- Support regional pre-sales activities and new deal infrastructure delivery activities including capacity analysis of large scale projects
- Lead various sustainability efforts to reduce our carbon footprint in support of Mastercard’s netZero goals
- Support M&A integration activities

- Higher education degree
- Be able to work independently, multitask, set priorities, and have a sharp eye for details
- Be able to work in and adapt to a fast-paced changing environment
- Be able to work in a global environment and manage regional objectives through influence vs. direct reporting lines
- Always look for potential solutions to solve problems
- Be confident and assertive around exec management
- Experience with IT Operations
- Technology awareness, preferably in payment industry
- Previous experience in a similar position preferred
- Confident people manager – will be leading a small team of subject matter experts

NYC Salary Range: $167,000 - $275,000
